Why does some palm tree in Hawaii have metal plates around them??? - hawaii metal core wheels
On the basis of a few palm trees, is it true that RDW sayng positioned to avoid mechanical damage during harvest and trimmer.
Some panels are installed above the trees to prevent rats from climbing and consumption of fruit (usually) appointments. Rats can not cross slip tin.
Another example, when I saw the heavy metal plates in Hawaii was installed when the winds knocked trees in the middle. They returned to the weaknesses and to improve the site, indicating the tension by metal plates in these areas to prevent a rupture.

Probably to protect against over-zealous gardeners and their weed mower.
Are only among the branches? To capture only a guess - the age, including the branches so they do not harm the soil?
Or if at the base of the tree - palm trees can be easily uprooted. Perhaps they are there to keep them alive in the storm?
